Any club owner or manager can post an Americano from the Rally app in about a minute. You pick the kind, the venue, the day and how many play; Rally works out every match and puts it in front of players in your city.

On the day, you run it from your phone: a roll call as people arrive, one tap to start, and a leaderboard that fills itself as players enter their scores.

Availability

Live in Islamabad and Lahore. Every club owner and manager can post, at your own club or at any other venue.

Pick an Americano when you want people to come on their own and meet the group. Pick a team Americano when players already have a partner: every team plays each of the other seven once. Pick a tournament for a bigger day with groups and knockouts.

Post an Americano

Open the Compete tab, or the Events tab on your club page, and tap Post an Americano. From your club page, your venue is already filled in.

  1. 1

    Pick the type.

Americano: players come on their own and get a new partner every match. Team Americano: they sign up with a partner.

  2. 2

Name it, place it, time it.

Up to 32 characters, any venue, at least a day ahead and up to a week out.

  3. 3

    How many play.

8 or 12 on an Americano. A team Americano is always eight teams.

  4. 4

    The courts.

At your own club, pick which ones. They come off your booking grid.

  5. 5

    How long.

Rally picks the shortest length that fits every match and greys out the rest.

  6. 6

    Who it’s for.

Any level, or one range. Players outside it can ask to join, and you decide.

  7. 7

    Gender preference.

Mixed, or open to one gender only.

  8. 8

    Set the price.

What each player pays, at the venue.

  9. 9

    Roll call.

On the day, tap each person as they arrive. Start never waits for the ticks.

  10. 10

    Leaderboard and matches.

One board for everyone, filling as matches are scored.

  11. 11

    The standings.

Points move the table after every score.

  12. 12

    Start, then score.

Anyone in the Americano can enter or fix a score.

  13. 13

    The winner, and levels.

The finished board names the winner and shows each player’s level move.

  14. 14

    Share results.

A picture of the result, ready for players to share.

Tap Create Americano. Rally works out the matches, tells players in your city, and hands you a link to send on WhatsApp.

A few rules the form holds you to:

  • A day ahead, up to a week out. Players need time to find it and plan.
  • The type is fixed once it's posted. Everything else can be edited.
  • Rally picks the length. It sets the shortest time that fits every match, and greys out courts and lengths that don't work for your player count.
  • At your own club, you pick which courts. They come off your booking grid on their own, so nobody can book them.

What players see

Your Americano goes on the Compete tab and on Home for players in that city, with its own page: the day, the venue, the level, who's in and how it works. Players tap Join this Americano to take a spot.

  • Level range. Players outside it can ask to join. You approve or turn down each ask from the page. On a team Americano, only the player who starts a team is checked.
  • Teams. On a team Americano, a player starts a team and invites a partner, or asks to join a team that still has a spot.
  • When it's full, players can join the waitlist. A spot that opens goes to the next in line.

Before it starts

Edit it. Tap the pen on your Americano's page. If a change would cost someone their spot, the app tells you first.

Manage players. Tap Manage to see everyone in it and remove a player if you need to. Until two hours before the start, a freed spot goes to the waitlist. In the last two hours, you choose: give it to the waitlist, or keep it quiet and fill it yourself.

Cancel it. You can cancel at any time, even after it has started. Players see that the host cancelled it. This can't be undone.

Note: An Americano that is never started cancels itself at its planned finish, even if it's full. Someone who runs it has to tap Start.

On the day

  1. Roll call. Open it from your Americano's page and tap each person as they arrive. Start never waits for the ticks: anyone not ticked in stays in the draw.
  2. Start. An Americano needs 8 or 12 players, and a team Americano needs eight full teams. Rally builds every match, and every partner, from whoever is on the list.
  3. Play and score. Everyone opens Leaderboard and matches. Each match has a Start, then Enter score. Anyone in the Americano can enter or fix any score, so players do it between matches and you step in when needed.
  4. Finish. It ends on its own once every match has a score. If a match never gets played, tap End Americano. Either way, the final standings go up and you can still fix a score afterwards.
  5. Share results. The finished board makes a picture of the result for players to share.

If nobody ends it, it closes one hour after its planned finish. For two hours after it closes, players and the club can still enter and fix scores.

How levels move

After an Americano or a team Americano, every rated player's level moves on their share of the points. Win more of the points than your levels said you would and you go up; win fewer and you go down. One Americano moves a level by 0.15 at most. Players see the change on the finished board.

Tournaments

Tournaments can't be posted from the app yet. We set each one up with you: the categories, how many teams, the groups and the knockouts. Two groups of four into semi-finals, four groups of four, or two groups of six into quarter-finals are all live today.

On the day you run it the same way. Roll call, then Start sets the groups and their matches. Players enter scores from their phones, the groups rank themselves, and the draw fills itself all the way to the final. Host a tournament on Rally shows what players see.

Get started

  1. Send us your details using the form below, if your club isn't on Rally yet.
  2. We set up your club with you and add your owners and managers.
  3. Tap Post an Americano on your club page or the Compete tab.

Good to know

Note: Each owner or manager can post two Americanos a week, counted by the week the Americano is played in.

  • Who runs an Americano: the person who posted it, and the owners and managers of the club at its venue. They all see Roll call, Start, Manage and End.
  • Players can't be removed once it has started. Their matches are already drawn.
  • You set the price; players pay at the venue.
